Tired of feeling like you're not enough?

You've already tried. Harder gym, better job, cleaner diet, longer hours, neater Instagram. The voice in your head is still keeping score. The thing Jesus offered to people in your exact situation wasn't a better strategy. It was rest you didn't earn.

You're not making this up.

These aren't soft numbers. They're the dataset of an entire generation being asked to be exceptional at everything and finding the goalposts move every time they get close.

49%
of young Australians are stressed all or most of the time.
33%
are stressed about how they look.
58%
are stressed about school or work performance.

Mission Australia Youth Survey 2025

It's not that you're weak. The world is punishing right now. The feed is a 24/7 comparison machine. Every job posting wants three years of experience for entry-level. Every gym is full of people you're being measured against. And then a quiet voice asks whether, when you're alone, you actually like yourself.

You're not the only one not okay. You're one of the ones who's stopped pretending.

What Jesus said to people in your exact situation.

Jesus didn't come for the people who had it together. He came for the ones who knew they didn't. To people in your exact situation, He said this:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.— Matthew 11:28

A yoke was the wooden frame that joined two oxen pulling a plough. Jesus is saying: there's a yoke either way. You're already wearing one — the one called Try Harder. He's offering a different yoke. His.

Here's the claim, plainly. The thing you're trying to earn doesn't exist on the road you're walking. You can keep grinding for it, or you can take what He's offering.

There is no enough out there.

This is a serious claim. Either Jesus was who He said He was, or He wasn't. If He was — the scoreboard you've been playing on is fake, and there's a way out you didn't earn. If He wasn't, this whole page is fiction.

You're going to have to decide which.

It's the only version of rest that isn't a holiday from the problem.

Stop. Turn around. Here's how.

This prayer isn't magic. It's not a transaction. It's what stopping sounds like. You've spent your life trying to be enough on your own steam — this is the moment you stop and ask Jesus to do the carrying instead.

You can pray it in your room, on a walk, on a train, alone or with someone. There's no special posture. The only thing that matters is that you mean it.

If words help, here are some:

Jesus, I'm tired of trying. I think you might be who you said you were. I'm sorry for the things I've done that I'm carrying around. Thank you that what you did on the cross is enough. Today I want to follow you. Help me work out what that means.

That's the prayer. If you mean it, say it. If you don't, don't.

The honest questions.

Is praying this prayer enough?

Yes. Your authentic, heartfelt prayer to God is all He wants. He loves you and He just wants you to draw near to Him and to know Him. Your prayer to Him is your heart's cry. What comes after is something real and tangible — a relationship with God, and change that happens gradually — and you don't do that alone. That's why we recommend your next step is a real conversation with a real person. Not a certificate. Not a welcome email. A human who's been where you've been.

What if I prayed it, then doubted it five minutes later?

Welcome to following Jesus. Every person who follows Him has a long list of moments they've doubted what they signed up for. Doubt isn't the opposite of faith — it's part of it. The prayer doesn't depend on how strong your feeling was. It depends on Jesus being real, which is the actual question and the only one worth answering. Bring the doubt into the conversation that comes next. That's exactly where it belongs.

Do I have to join a church?

You don't have to do anything. What you do next is up to you. If you're open to it, we'd love to help you connect with a Christian local to you for the conversation that comes after the prayer — that's a relationship, not a sign-up. Most people who pray a prayer like this end up wanting a real community around them: genuine, authentic people who get it. We'd absolutely recommend that. But the choice is yours.

I'm worried I'm not "really ready." Am I?

Nobody is. Ready isn't a feeling — it's a direction. The question Jesus asks isn't "have you sorted yourself out?" — He already knows you haven't. The question is whether you're willing to stop trying to sort yourself out alone. If the answer is "yes," or even "I think so," that's the same answer. You're ready.

What about the things I've done that I can't undo?

That's exactly what the cross was for. The whole reason this is good news is that the things you can't undo got dealt with by Jesus, not by you. There's nothing on your list He didn't see and decide was worth dying for. Nothing. Bring it to a real conversation when you're ready — there will be space for all of it.

Stop earning what's already been given.

You don't have to feel enough to be enough. Jesus already settled that. The scoreboard you've been playing on isn't real, and you're allowed to walk away from it. Today, if you want.
